Norman Rockwell was / is the quintessential American Illustrator , he really should be called an artist , but this is how he referred to himself and his work .
He liked to portray American life as it was and this illustration , which was done for the cover of the Nov . 25 , 1933 Saturday Evening Post , brings back many memories to us " BABY BOOMERS " . As you look at it , it soon becomes apparent that there are a number of underlying themes such as the advent of " Modern Psychology " and a Mother searching for advice , perhaps going against her own instincts .
