I only wish that it had offended someone into writing earlier. There was never intent to offend anyone with this photograph, although it did cross my
mind that some would have to be. It is so hard to make decisions which might lead one under the bondage of every whim and interpretation of any visual
material which would tend to dictate every move you make.
I do not adhere to harsh discipline in the schools and never have. It does not belong there. And now discipline has no place anywhere especially where
it should be... in the home.
I got my butt whacked a few times while I was in school. It hurt. One teacher could have taught
Butt Whacking 101, he was good. But I don't ever remember having a thought of mayhem and destruction on my mind afterwards, only a burning sensation
around my fanny and a grudge against my teacher for a day or so. But it never entered my heart to retaliate by murdering someone or burning down the
school.
I don't think this photograph has upset many people at all. I am not above correction and will listen to anyone sharing their thoughts.

As a student of Latin , I would presume that ' vita ' -- the singular for life would be appropriate in describing one's life course as opposed to vitae , a plural form ( it is ONE life , no ? ).
After several emails on the subject , I consulted Webster's II New Riverside University Dictionary ( 1988 ) , which is as good a guide to everyday American English as any . There was no listing for ' curriculum vita but curriculum vitae was , indeed listed . Curriculum vitae is the common usage and therefore less likely to elicit questions from potential employers.
